2013 NIMBY Fifty Winter Newsletter

Posted on February 11, 2013

The fourth annual NIMBY Fifty is set for Saturday May 25th, 2013 in Pemberton, BC and is capped at 420 riders.

Online registration opens this Friday February 15th, 2013 at 4:20pm. Visit the website to register.

Same Course – Same Sweet Trails

A new trail, called Fifty, made it's debut at the race last year. We continued work on this trail through fall 2012, completing a second bridge crossing over a creek mid-trail along with a bunch of general trail maintenance. Overall, no changes or additions to the course for 2013, just the same sweet trails and lung-busting climbs as last year.

Red Bull Downtime is back!

Red Bull will once again be supporting a downhill stage of the event – a race within a race. The male and female competitors with the fastest Red Bull Downtime will each win $250. The overall fastest Red Bull Downtime will also win a team entry to Red Bull Divide and Conquer on Vancouver’s North Shore. For more info, check it out.

Go to www.nimbyfifty.com/redbull-downtime for more details about Red Bull Downtime, including results from 2012.

Great Prize Money

With $1,000 up for grabs by each male and female overall winner there’s almost $4000 in total cash prizing; we just might have the richest prizing of any single day marathon xc race in BC, and possibly the country.

Same Venue, New Camping Opportunity

The race start, finish and Apres will once again be held at North Arm Farm. The farm's owner, Mayor Jordan Sturdy, has kindly offered racers the opportunity to camp (for a small fee) on Friday May 24th and Saturday May 25th at North Arm Farm. This means you can roll right out of your tent and into the starting line!

Same Food, Same Tunes

Papa Josh returns to fill the air with his 'funktastic' tunes, and The Pony will be back to serve a delicious post race feast.

The Tippie Factor

The legendary Brett Tippie returns this year as our official Emcee, which means you'd better be prepared for lots of laughs because he will have you howling. We also struck a deal with Tippie last year that if he wants to earn a bonus for his time on the mic he needs to pre-ride the course in it's entirety before the race. This is what Brett had to say about it: "Oh gawd! Last year I thought all you hammer heads were crazy!! I wanna be crazy too!!"

We’re proud to have the support of some really great sponsors including our presenting sponsor, The Soze Group, as well as our Silver sponsors Different Bikes, Steed Cycles and new for this year, TaG Cycling.
